If you stop receiving temperature and/or humidity but all other sensors are reading fine you will need to replace the sensor. You may also find that you are getting readings that are obviously incorrect eg temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius or humidity below 5%. You can expect to replace this after 2.5-3.5 years in New Zealand weather conditions. Unfortunately our special combination of high humidity, high rainfall and high wind (sometimes salty) take a toll. Fortunately this can be easily replaced by users. We recommend that when you do this, you also give the radiation screen a good clean to remove the deposits of mould, mildew, moss and spiders.
If you stop receiving wind speed and/or direction but all other sensors are reading fine you will need to replace the sensor. You may also find after a number of years that readings are too variable (high/low) due to loose bearings, or too "sticky" due to clogged bearings. In some cases, bearings may be able to be replaced but normally you will need a new sensor.
Replacement wind cups and vanes (non-electronic component)
These are available for both Vantage Pro2 and Vantage Vue models if they have been broken or lost. Models will differ depending on model number and manufacturing date, so please have this information handy when ordering.
Replacement rain filters
These are available for both Vantage Pro2 and Vantage Vue models. If you have a Vantage Pro2 with a small disc-shaped filter, you may like to consider upgrading the rain cone to the new Aerocone, which has a larger filter which clips in place to avoid it blowing out.
Solar panel enclosure door
Replacement doors with solar panels are available for all models of the Vantage Pro2 ISS, remote wind and soil stations. Please note that even though the solar panel on these may look cloudy and damaged they may still be operating without problem.
We can supply the 3V backup battery for either the Vantage Pro2 or Vantage Vue. If you find that you are needing to replace this more regularly than every few months, then please contact us, as there are potentially additional faults with the PCB causing this. Also note that these batteries are NOT rechargeable.
